John Weikart is of counsel, representing clients in appellate litigation matters including civil, criminal, family, and child protection issues.  He is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association and its Appellate Advocacy Section.  He is admitted to the practice of law in Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey. 

Prior to joining the firm, Attorney Weikart served as Deputy Director of Legal Research for the Connecticut Superior Court.  In that role, he oversaw the court’s judicial clerkship program and researched and wrote on countless legal issues in civil and criminal cases, as well as administrative appeals.  He oversaw and expanded the training program for judicial law clerks, teaching topics including legal research and writing, pretrial motion practice, statutory interpretation, and appellate procedure to generations of new attorneys. 

Attorney Weikart served as a law clerk to the Honorable Barry R. Schaller at the Connecticut Appellate Court, to the judges of the Connecticut Superior Court in the judicial district of New London, and to the Administrative Law Division of the Office of the Attorney General of Texas, where he worked on matters pending before administrative agencies and on appeal in the Texas state courts.  He received his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law in 1998, where he was a published staff member of the American Journal of Criminal Law.  He received his B.A. in History from the College of Wooster in 1993.
